Mosaic of College Activities The Colleges of CUHK provide their students with a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from overseas study tours and workshops, to seminars on languages, IT, leadership, culture and physical fitness, and community services. The efforts of Shaw College exemplify the commitment shared by other Colleges of CUHK. Shaw College invites important and eminent figures of the community to speak at its assemblies. Speakers have included Mr. Donald Tsang Yam-kuen, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR; Mr. John Tsang, Financial Secretary; Mr. Cheung Chi-leung, a famous film director; and Mr. Lam Chiu-ying, director of the Hong Kong Observatory. Guest speakers are also invited to the College's high table dinners to share views on academic and life issues. They include Mr. Ching Cheong, a famous journalist; Mr. Tang Siu-pun, author of I want Euthanasia ; Prof. Sydney Chung, former dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Mr. Chong Chan-yau, director of Student Development of the University of Hong Kong. The high table dinners are characterized by a casual atmosphere, which makes for relaxed interaction between teachers and students. College is where tournaments are won, bonds are made and ideologies are forcefully put and repelled… yet after this, trust and friendship are built. Prof. Joseph J.Y.
