64   Chinese University Bulletin Spring • Summer 2008 HK$28 Million for Yao Chung Kit Diabetes Assessment Centre T he Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity, CUHK, received a generous donation of HK$28 million from the Yao Yiu Sai Education and Charitable Memorial Fund to establish the Yao Chung Kit Diabetes Assessment Centre. The official opening ceremony and establishment of the Lioa Wun Yuk Diabetes Memorial Research Fund was held in March at the Prince of Wales Hospital. The centre offers a diabetic complications assessment programme at only HK$480, 25% of the market price. The programme allows doctors and diabetics to make informed decisions and save waiting time. Charity Concert Raises HK$1 Million for Faculty of Medicine J ointly organized by the Hong Kong Representative Office of Nanjing University, the CUHK Convocation and the Office of Institutional Advancement of CUHK, a charity concert was held at Sha Tin Town Hall to a full house on 12 May. The event was made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Si Yuan Foundation. The principal performers were drawn from Nanjing University's Traditional Instrument Orchestra and the Music Ensemble of the CUHK Department of Music. The concert raised close to HK$1 million for the University's Faculty of Medicine to support the development of its Sleep Assessment Unit and the Yao Chung Kit Diabetes Assessment Centre.
