36 Chinese University Bulletin No. 2, 2016 The Best and the Brightest Engineering Team Becomes Robocon 2016 Hong Kong Champion Fourteen students from the Faculty of Engineering won the Championship, the Best Team Spirits Award, and the Best Engineering Award at the Robocon 2016 Hong Kong Contest in June this year. The competition was organized by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, Hong Kong Computing Society and the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers. The team represented Hong Kong to participate in the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2016 in Bangkok. 15th Consecutive Victory of the Rowing Team The CUHK Rowing Team took both the men and women’s championship and the overall championship in the annual Hong Kong Universities Rowing Champ i ons h i p s i n Augu s t , m a k i n g t h e t e a m ’ s 15 t h consecutive victory. Gold Award in Engineering Medical Innovation Global Competition CUHK launched the world’s first Engineering Medical Innovation G l ob a l Comp e t i t i on , wh i c h attracted 40 student teams from five continents to design and develop clinically- driven and patient-centred technological innovations. A team formed by CUHK s tudent s from the Department of Mechanical and Automated Engineering and the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine won the Gold Award, the Technical Challenge Award and the Best Hong Kong Team with their project ‘Surgical Robotic System for Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection’.
