Hostel Fees Students who have been allocated hostel places are required to pay the following hostel fees which normally cover a two-term (September to May) residence period. Except for the New Postgraduate Hall Complex, hostel fees are payable in two instalments and are for lodging accommodation only. The cost of meals on campus is about HK$15 for breakfast and $30 each for lunch and dinner. It is estimated that expenses on books and stationery and other incidental expenses would be in the region of $6,500 a year. In addition, a commuting student may have to spend between $6,200 and $7,200 a year on transport. Personal and other extra expenses are entirely at the discretion of the individual student concerned. Taking into consideration all fees and expenditure set out above, a full-time student will probably need between $90,000 and $98,000 a year to support his education at the University.
