5.10 The pass mark for the above assessments is 50%. Students who fail either in any of the departmental assessments or in Part I of the Third Professional Examination will be required to repeat Medical Year 4. Students who fail in Part I of the Third Professional Examination marginally shall be given an opportunity for re-assessment and those who fail in the re-assessment will be required to repeat Medical Year 4. 5.11 Medical Year 5 students shall be assessed by Part II of the Third Professional Examination in the subjects of Medicine and Surgery and their associated specialities held at the end of Medical Year 5. 5.12 The pass mark for the above examination is 50%. Internal departmental assessments from the senior clerkships and dresserships will be taken into account. Students who fail in both Medicine and Surgery will be required to repeat the whole year. Students who fail in one subject only shall be allowed a supplementary examination in that subject to be held within six months from the date of the main examination. 5.13 Students who fail in the supplementary examination shall be required to resit Part II of the Third Professional Examination. They shall be ineligible to take any further examination should they fail again in either or both subjects of Medicine and Surgery, and shall be required to discontinue studies at the University. " # $ % & ' $ $ $ 6.1 Students may, after completion of the Pre-clinical Programme, apply for admission to the one-year Intercalated Degree Programme in Medical Sciences. 6.2 The programme shall be taken only once. Any student failing the overall assessment or any of the component courses shall continue his studies in the Clinical Programme. ( ) 7.1 A student shall be eligible for the award of the degrees of MB ChB if, (a) he has passed all Professional Examinations as stipulated in the foregoing regulations within the prescribed period of study; and (b) he has fulfilled other University requirements on General Education and Physical Education. 7.2 A student may be considered for the award of the degrees of MB ChB with honours if, (a) he has obtained a minimum of three subject distinctions in the Professional Examinations, at least one of which is in Part II of the Third Professional Examination; and (b) he has passed each and every Professional Examination at the first attempt. 7.3 A student who has successfully completed the course requirements of the Intercalated Programme in Medical Sciences shall be awarded the BMedSc
