7.3 (a) Students who fail a required Nursing course with a mark below 40% will be required to repeat the course, unless allowed a supplementary examination at the discretion of the panel of examiners. (b) Students in their 2nd, 3rd and/or 4th years of attendance who obtain an average of less than ‘C–’ for Clinical Practice courses will be required to repeat that year. (c) Students who fail an elective Nursing course with a mark below 40% will be required to repeat or undertake another Nursing elective course, unless allowed a supplementary examination at the discretion of the panel of examiners. 7.4 (a) Students who fail the supplementary examination of a required Nursing course will be required to repeat the course. (b) Students who fail the supplementary examination of an elective Nursing course will be required to repeat the course or undertake another elective Nursing course. 7.5 Academic probation (a) Students who fail in two or more Nursing courses in a year and who are not allowed supplementary examinations shall be put on academic probation in the following term. (b) A student on academic probation may be required to take a reduced study load and his performance shall be reviewed at the end of the term in which he is put on probation. At this time if he has failed in no more than one Nursing course probation shall be lifted; otherwise, probation shall continue to apply for a further term. 7.6 Discontinuation of studies A student shall be required to discontinue his studies at the University if: (a) he fails to complete all requirements for graduation after six years; or (b) he fails more than half of the Nursing courses he has taken in an academic year; or (c) he fails to have his probation lifted after he has been put on academic probation for two successive terms of attendance; or (d) if, after two attempts, he still fails to meet the minimum grade required for one or more required Nursing course(s), unless otherwise decided by the panel of examiners. & ! 8.1 A student shall be eligible for the award of the degree of Bachelor of Nursing if he has: (a) completed all the course requirements as stipulated in the regulations; and (b) fulfilled all other faculty and University requirements. 8.2 A student who has successfully completed the course requirements of the Pre-registration Bachelor of Nursing Programme and has satisfied all other University requirements shall be awarded the Bachelor of Nursing degree with one of the following classifications: (a) First Class Honours (b) Second Class Honours Upper Division
