Faculty and Departmental Research/Consultancy Units 107 Centre of Research and Promotion of Womens Health Tel.: 2252 8896 Fax.: 2609 5825 E-mail: rubyyu@cuhk.edu.hk Website: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/crpwh The centre was established in January 2001, and its members are drawn from various disciplines, each with an established track record in research and promotion of women’s health. Its objectives are: • to gather and develop women-centred and health-related resources; • to identify, stimulate and conduct research in key health issues for women; • to provide a scientific basis for evidence-based health care, health promotion, and health policy development; • to provide information, education, and training related to women’s health; and • to establish links with government and non-government agencies nationally and internationally for research into and promotion of women’s health. The main activities and services of the centre include: • compiling databases and developing indicators for assessing women’s health; • developing a resource centre which can also serve as a clearing house for information and materials on women’s health; • developing research agendas and coordinating and conducting multi- disciplinary research in women’s health issues; • devising effective measures for the promotion of positive health, and for the prevention and treatment of diseases/conditions common in women; • producing user friendly materials, and providing assistance to women in making informed decisions about their own health; • organizing talks, seminars and conferences on women’s health issues; • providing postgraduate training in women’s health, leading to the award of diplomas, and master’s and doctoral degrees. • networking with local and international organizations working in the field of women’s health. Centre for Scientific Analysis of Ancient Artifacts Tel.: 2609 6275 Fax.: 2603 5204 E-mail: TLlab@cuhk.edu.hk The Yeung Shui Sang Laboratory for Thermoluminescence (TL) of Ancient Ceramics was established at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1986 with a generous donation from Mr. Yeung Wing-Tak. The lab began to offer its service of TL dating of ceramics to the public in 1987. It has recently been re-organized to meet new demands of the customers and is now operating as a part of the Centre for Scientific Analysis of Ancient Artifacts. Newly established in August 2000, the Centre of Scientific Analysis for Ancient Artifacts is created to link modern scientific methodology to archaeology and art and to forge collaboration with research institutes in China and overseas. It contains a research component and a service component, and will apply research findings to its authentication and archaeological dating services.
