It launched the first BBA, MAcc and MPhil/PhD programmes in accountancy in Hong Kong. The fundamental aim of the school is to achieve excellence and distinction in teaching, research, and service, and to maintain close relationships with the community and industry. It is committed to providing accounting education of an international standard which encompasses a global view, and which is also rooted in Chinese culture. The school is a founding member of the Dragon League, an academic alliance comprising accounting departments of CUHK, Peking University, Fudan University, and Taiwan University. Besides being fully accredited by the Hong Kong Society of Accountants, the school is the only accredited member in Asia of both the Federation of Schools of Accountancy and the AACSB-International. The objective is to provide students with fundamental knowledge in some rapidly-developing areas of contemporary management studies — business economics, e-commerce, information and technology management, and supply chain management. Students learn how to apply modern principles and methods of economics and management sciences to strategy formulation and to the analysis of planning, operation, and control problems related to systems management and business decision, so as to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the use of resources.
