UniversityExtensions 133 Programme in HealthManagement, a Master Degree Programme and a Graduate Diploma Programme in Health Science (Gero ntology), and a Master Degree Programme of Administr ative Leadersh ip Programme with the Univer sity of New England (Australia); a Bachelor Degree Programme in Nursing with La Trobe University (Australia); a Bachelor Degree of Business(Computer Systems Support) with the Victoria University of Technology (Australia); a Master Degree Programme in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with Lancaster University (UK); a Master of Arts Programme in (Managerial) Economics with th e Univer sity of Ok lah oma (USA); a Master of Scien ce Pr ogr amme in Professional Communication/Concentration in Conflict Management with Clark University (USA); and a Master Degree Programme in Library and Information Science with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (USA). To cope with theincreasing need for practical and professionalprogrammes, SCS has introduced many newdiploma/certificate programmesand professional training programmes. These include Diploma in General Studies, Certificate in General Studies, Certificate in Information Technology for Disciplinary Forces (Distan ce Edu cation ), Diploma in Op eratio ns and Comp uter Stud ies f or Disciplinary Forces (Distan ce Education), Certificate for Library Assistants, Advanced Training Course in Mediation Practice, and Review Courses for CFA examination. In 2001, SCS collaborated with the School of Chinese Medicine and the Institute of Chinese Medicine of the University to introduce a series of on-line courses in Chinese Medicine. To address the burgeoning use of computers and technology in society, SCS has designed a wide variety of computer courses, fr om beginner’s computer literacy courses to award- bearing pr ogrammes. A new series of e-commerce courses has been developed to meet the needs of business people who wish to understand information technology in order to master the 21st century business environment. SCS also o ff ers in -h ouse training fo r g ov ernment dep ar tments and commercial an d voluntary organization s. Train ing cour ses include English, pu ton gh ua, Ch in ese lang uag e and liter ature, computer an d info rmation technology, secretarial studies, economics, management, accounting and law, and many other areas related to the training needs of employees. For d ev elopment and acad emic aff airs r elating to awar d- bear in g pro grammes, the SCS is under the super vision of th e Senate Committee on Continuing Studies. There is also an Adv isory Board of Continu ing Stu dies comprising renowned figures f rom the business sector and senior staff of the University, who give advice on the development of the school. Thehead office of the SCS is located at the Inter-University Hall on campus. Its enrolment centre is on the 13th floor of Oriental Centre, 67 Chatham Road South, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, and classrooms are located on the 1st, 5th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 17th floors of the same building. A new learning centre on the 1st floo r of Ban k of America Tower in Central was set up in mid- 2002. School premises in Wanchai, Tai Koo Shing, Yaumatei,Mongkok, Jordan,Cheung Sha Wan, and Mei Foo are also rented for the convenience of the adult students.
