They are required to spend two weeks in labour wards,and another two in other hospitals. The objective is to cultivate problem-solving techniques, critical thinking, and commu nication skills. Major areas of depar tmental r esearch in clude assisted reproduction, gynaecological oncology, endoscopic surgery, female pelvicfloor dysfunction, information processing and computer ization in obstetrics and gynaecology, intrapartum monitoring, foetal physiology, and f oeto-maternal medicine. The main objectives are to encourage early clinical exposure, and correlation of principles of basic science with clinical scenarios. This programme complements other s in the Clinical Method Panel an d Neuroscience Panel.
