The Cantonese course consists of three 3- hour sessions and is complemented by web-based teaching, and the Putonghua and English courses are conducted on the web. The purposeof theprogramme is to p rovide an op portunity for students to streng then their ab ility to con sult dictionaries for the correctpronunciation of individual characters or words. The programme will provide a key for students to open the door to more advanced language courses offered by various units of the University and will promote an awarenessof the importance of language proficiengy.
