Fields of Sp ecialization The programme focu ses geographically on China, and on East and Southeast Asian studies. Research top ics include n atio nalism, ethn icity an d id entity, globalization and transnationalism, religion, gender, development an d social change, food culture, tourism, and urban and youth cultures. MPhil Prog ramme Fields of Sp ecialization Same as those for the PhD programme. MA Programme This isa taught programme in social and cultural anthropology for persons who do not have a background in anthropology. MA in The Anthropology of Chine se Soc ietie s Prog ramme This is a taughtprogramme for students with some social science background. It focuses on the theories and ethnographiesof Chinese societies,includingmainland China, Taiwan,Hong Kong, Macau, and ethnic Chinese overseas. Division of Architecture PhD Prog ramme The programme is research-oriented. Students take courses and p articipate in wo rksh ops and conf eren ces as r equired by their adv iser s.
