370 Part 7• University Ordinanceand Regulations 1. This Ordinance may be cited as Th e Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance. 2. (1) In this Ordinan ce, unless the context otherwise requires — “approved course of study” meansa course of study approved by the Senate; “Assembly of Fellows” means theAssembly of Fellowsof aconstituent College; “Board of Trustees” means the Bo ard of Trustees of a constituent College; “Ch ancellor ”, “Pro-Chancello r”, “Vice-Chancellor”, “Pr o-Vice- Chancellors” and “Treasurer” respectively mean the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellors and the Treasurer of the University; “constituent College” means aconstituent College of the University as provided by section 3 and “constituentColleges” shallbe construed accordingly; “Council”, “Senate”, “Convocation”, “Faculties”, “Schools of Studies” and “Boards of Studies” respectively mean the Council, Senate, Convocation, Faculties, Schoolsof Studies and Boards of Studies of the University; “Fellow” means a Fellow of a constituent College; “graduates” and “students” respectively mean the graduates and students of the University; “Head” meansthe Head of a constituent College; “members” means such persons as are prescribed by the Statutesto be members of the University; “officers” means the officers of the University as provided by section 5; “original College” means any of the following — ( a ) Chung Chi College; ( b ) The United College of Hong Kong; ( c ) New Asia College; “precincts” means,in relation to the University, the boundariesof Lot No. 725 in Demarcation District 42; “repealed Ordinance” means The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance repealed by section 21; “Statutes” means the Statutes of the University contained in Schedule 1 as the same may from time to time b e amended or rep laced under section 13(1); “teach er” mean s a memb er o f th e f ull- time teachin g staff of the University of the rank of Assistant Lecturer and above; “University” means The Chinese University of Hong Kong ( 香港中 文大學 ) continued under section 4. (2) A special resolution is aresolution passed atone meeting of the Council and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held not lessthan 1 month nor more th an 6 months thereafter an d which is ap proved at each such Shorttitle.
