The Univer sity may — ( a ) confer such degrees as may be specified in the Statutes; ( b ) awar d dip lomas and certif icates and such o th er acad emic distinctions as may be specified in the Statutes; ( c ) pr ovid e su ch lectu res and instruction for per sons not being members of the University as the University may determine; ( d ) confer degrees honoriscausa of Master or Doctor in accordance with the Statutes; and ( e ) subject to theStatutes, depriveany person of any degreeconferred or diploma,certificate or other academic distinction awarded by the University. 16. There shallbe an Honorary Degrees Committee which shall be constituted as provided by the Statutes for the purpose of advising the Council with regard to the award of degrees honoriscausa . 17. Any instrument purporting to be executed under the seal of the University and signed by the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, a Pro-Vice- Chancellor or Treasurer and countersigned by the Secretary shall bereceived in evidence upon its production without further proof and shall,unless the contrary is proved, be deemed to be an instrument so executed. 18. Rent p ayab le to th e Go vernment in resp ect of all land gran ted to the University by the Government shall be limited in total to $10 a year. 19. (Omitted as spent) 20. (2) Schedule 3 shall have effectwith respect to the constitution and powers of the Board of Trustees of the original Colleges. (3) Schedule 4 shall have effectwith respect to the constitution and powers of the Board of Trustees of Shaw College. 21. The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance and the Statutes of The Chinese University of Hong Kong are repealed. 22. (1) The Council and Senate appointed under the repealed Ordinance shall continue to be the Council and the Senate of theUniversity untila new Council and Senate are constituted under the Statutes.
