426 Part 7• University Ordinanceand Regulations the prescribed period of absence, the student shall obtain a certificate of good health signed by the Director of the University Health Service before he can apply to resume studies. 12.0 Reduc ed Course Load for Certain S tudents Union Office rs 12.1 A stu dent after election to the presiden cy of the Students Union o f the University or a college or the vice-presidency of the University Students Union may, if h e feels that his academic wo rk will suf fer th rough the pressure of his union duties, apply inwriting to the Registrar for permission to take a reduced courseload for not more than two terms. The board of the faculty to which he belongs may after considering his application make a recommendation to the Senate thereo n. No student shall be granted this privilege mo re than once, and such an application shall be made within two weeks after the election results are announced. 12.2 Such permission for reduced course load shall not prejudicethe student’s eligibility for any academic awards or financial assistance in his academic career. 12.3 Such a student shall take a minimum of six units of courses in each teaching term during his term of o ffice as Univ ersity or college stu dents u nion president or University Students Union vice-president and shall be required to pay all prescribed fees. 13.0 Course Asse ssment and Grades 13.1 A student shall beassessed for every course which he has registered for on the basis of his performan ce in the course. Cr iteria for assessmen t may include any one or any combination of the fo llowing: attendan ce, class work, written work, laboratory work, field work, research papers, tests, examinations, and any other criteria. 13.2 Course grades, their standards and converted points used in reporting shall be as follows: Gradeand Standard Sub-divisions ConvertedPoints (if needed) A Excellent A 4.0 A– VeryGood A– 3.7 B Good B+ 3.3 B 3.0 B– 2.7 C Fair C+ 2.3 C 2.0 C– 1.7 D Pass D+ 1.3 D 1.0 F Failure F 0.0
