Undergraduate Pre-registrationNursingStudies 439 4.0 Course Load 4.1 A stud ent shall take no less than th ree Nursin g courses in any teaching term. He shall tak e no more than seven Nursing courses in any teaching term except with prior permission of the Director of the Nethersole School of Nursing. 5.0 Pe riod of Study 5.1 A student shall register for and attend classes for at least four years before graduation. 5.2 A student shall complete all requirements for graduation within six years from his fir st registratio n in cluding an y periods of leave of absen ce, suspension of studies and extension of studies. 5.3 A student shall take courses at this university in his final term. 5.4 A student who fails to complete th e prog ramme and pass the relev ant examinations within the prescribed period as stipu lated ab ove shall be required to discontinue studies at the University. 6.0 Course Asse ssment and Grades 6.1 Course grades and their standards used in reporting shall be as follows: Gradeand Standard Sub-divisions (if needed) A Excellent A A– VeryGood A– B Good B+ B B– C Fair C+ C C– D Pass D+ D F Failure F 6.2 The pass mark is 50%. A student who has gained grade ‘D’ or above in a course shall have successfully completed the requirements for that course. 7.0 Ac ademic Probation and Discontinuation of Studies 7.1 Students who fail in a Nursing course with a mark of 40% or above shall be allowed a supplementary examination. 7.2 The supplementary examination will normally be held within five to six weeks after the departmental examination. 7.3 (a) Students who fail a required Nursing course with a mark below 40% will be required to repeat the course, unless allowed a supplementary examination atthe discretion of the panelof examiners.
