However, the unit/s of a course which a student has passed but is required to repeat shallcount only once towards the fulfilment of the number of units for graduation. 12.0 Ex amina tions 12.1 A stud ent shall take course ex aminations, if prescribed by the teacher/s concerned, in the fo rm of wr itten, p ractical or oral assessment, or any combination thereof. 12.2 A graduation thesis or graduation projectmay be prescribed by a student’s programme. The grades, standards and converted points used in reporting theresults of graduation theses/projects shall be the same as thoseprescribed in Regulation 11.2. 12.3 Absence from Examinations (a) A student who for medical or other compelling reasons is unableto sit for any course examination shall apply in writing with documentary eviden ce at the earliest possible momen t but not later than 1 0 days after the examination con cerned to the Reg istrar for permission for ab sence. I n the case of illn ess/in ju ry, the app licatio n sh all be accompanied by a certificate signed by a registered medicalpractitioner. (b) If hisapplication for absenceis successful, a student may be otherwise assessed atthe discretion of the programme committee concerned. (c) A stud ent who is absent fr om any examination without permission shall be given a grade of ‘F’ in that examination.
