Research Institutes and Centres 97 Li & Fung Centre for Supply Chain Management and Logistics Tel.: 3163 4081 Fax.: 3163 0481 E-mail: lf-scml@cuhk.edu.hk Website: http:// lf-scml.baf.cuhk.edu.hk The Li & Fung Centre for Supply Chain Management and Logistics brings together researchers from different faculties specializing in supply chain management (SCM) and logistics to study specific areas and to create synergy through research collaboration. The centre’s mission is to conduct basic and applied research in SCM and logistics, to facilitate the advancement of technological know-how for SCM theory and the logistics industry, and to promote knowledge transfer between academia and industry. Special emphasis is placed on bridging the gap between the academic knowledge and industrial problem- solving. The centre has two research centres, a knowledge transfer centre, and special project units. Research projects are hosted and conducted in the Cyber Logistics Research Centre (CLRC) and the Supply Chain Management Research Centre (SCMRC). The CLRC focuses on logistics research, and the SCMRC emphasizes the theory and development of supply chain management. Selected projects on emerging supply chain issues in the areas of technology advancement, finance, and marketing are supported. The Knowledge Transfer Centre promotes exchange between the cenrtre and practitioners through open forums, education and training programme, and consultation services. (852) 2603 6840 E-mail: xiande@baf.msmail.cuhk.edu.hk Website: http://www.baf.cuhk.edu.hk/dse/cbex/index.htm The centre was established in 2004 with the following objectives: • Advance theory and knowledge of supply chain management by conducting basic and applied research in supply chain management. • Promote applications of supply chain management theory and technology through training and educational activities in the Pearl River Delta. • Form a network of supply chain management corporations and enhance their competitiveness through applied research and consulting services. Faculty members in the centre have conducted several SCM studies in Hong Kong and mainland China. These include relationship management and supply chain integrations in Hong Kong and mainland China, supply chain strategies and practices in China, supply chain structure and the role of logistics service providers in the Pearl River Delta, and advanced strategies and tools for virtual supply chain management in the Asia environment.
