Research Institutes and Centres 115 other aspects of Confucian culture, better coordination of ongoing research on Confucianism and related issues by members of the Faculty of Arts, and establishment of links with research institutions in the same field in mainland China and around the world. Completed projects of the centre include ‘The Uncertain Phoenix: Confucianism in Contemporary China’ and ‘Culture as Destiny — The Confucian Experiment in Modern Singapore’. Future projects include studies on the forms of Confucian teaching and learning in late imperial China on the manifestation of Confucian ethics and rituals in the Lingnan area, including the present provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan as well as Hong Kong and Macau. Affiliated to the Research Institute for the Humanities, the centre’s missions include facilitating cross-cultural studies from an interdisciplinary perspective, promoting cross-cultural studies through a parallel and mutually supportive approach and inter-linkage of training and research, as well as developing a more holistic kind of cross-cultural studies by integrating international, regional, Chinese national, and Hong Kong (or other cities) municipal dimensions. Having acquired sufficient practical experience in conducting computational projects, the centre now sets out to further promote humanities-related computational research.
