It launched the first BBA, MAcc and MPhil/PhD programmes in accountancy in Hong Kong. The fundamental aim of the school is to achieve excellence and distinction in teaching, research, and service, and to maintain close relationships with the community and industry. It is committed to providing accounting education of an international standard which encompasses a global view, and which is also rooted in Chinese culture. The school, in cooperation with the Shanghai National Accounting Institute, began offering the EMPAcc Programme in 2002. The programme plays a leading role in advancing professional accountancy training in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Besides having the full accreditation of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the school is also an accredited member of both the Federation of Schools of Accountancy and the AACSB-International. The objective is to provide students with fundamental knowledge in some rapidly developing areas of contemporary management studies — business economics, e-commerce, information and technology management, supply chain and logistics management. Students learn how to apply modern principles and methods of economics and management sciences to strategy formulation and to the analysis of planning, operation, and control problems related to systems management and business decision, so as to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of the use of resources.
