Within these broad themes, postgraduate students may select studies ranging from laboratory-based basic science to community-based epidemiology. Some areas of focus include: asthma, allergy, and immunology; obesity, growth and nutrition; diabetes and thyroid disorders; heart and lung diseases including sleep related disordered breathing; paediatric infectious diseases including neonatal infection; blood stem cell, cord blood and transplant research; skin diseases; child health and risk factors for disease; traditional Chinese medicine. 5. Topics from the entire field of Psychiatry including epidemiology, psychogeriatrics particularly dementia research, eating disorders, cross- cultural and women mental health issues, psychopharmacology, rehabilitation and community studies, clinical and psychosocial aspects of child psychiatry, suicide, stroke-related psychiatric disorders, and epidemiological aspects of sleep medicine.
