398 Part 6 • Fees, Scholarships and Financial Aid Cost of University Education In addition to the prescribed fees listed above, all full-time students are advised to set aside money for other items including meals, books, transport, personal and other expenses. The cost of meals on campus is about HK$15 for breakfast and $30 each for lunch and dinner. It is estimated that expenses on books and stationery and other incidental expenses would be in the region of $6,500 a year. In addition, a commuting student may have to spend between $6,200 and $7,200 a year on transport. Personal and other extra expenses are entirely at the discretion of the individual student concerned. Taking into consideration all fees and expenditure set out above, a full-time student will probably need between $90,000 and $98,000 a year to support his education at the University.
