The University 83 Kong–Anson Research Foundation for CAS and CUHK in Molecular Biosciences. With support from various foundations, the University organizes conferences related to academic development and social changes which are attended by renowned scholars the world over. The University is also in close collaboration with mainland institutions and organizations on a wide spectrum of research projects. They include the Chinese Traditional Ritual Music Research Programme; Comparative Studies on Economic Development and Women’s Family Status in Chinese Societies — Hong Kong Study; Global Entrepreneurship Monitor: Hong Kong and Shenzhen, Education and Work: The Efficiency of Schooling on Human Resources Development in Three Regions of China; SARS Molecular Epidemiology Research Consortium; Real-time PC-based Visualization of Chinese Visible Human (Virtual Anatomy); and Improving the Grain Quality of Super-hybrid Rice. The University is actively involved in providing training and consultancy services to governmental agencies and the business community on the mainland. Both regular and tailor-made courses are offered. In response to the rapid economic growth of the mainland and the need for high calibre business executives, the University has launched an MBA Programme in Finance in cooperation with Tsinghua University, a joint EMSc Programme in Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with Tsinghua University’s Graduate School in Shenzhen, a Master of Professional Accountancy Programme with the Shanghai National Accounting Institute, and a Master Programme in Psychology, and a Master of Accountancy Programme with Peking University. The University’s Beijing Liaison Office, located on the campus of Peking University, provides logistics support to exchange activities conducted by University members and helps enhance cooperation with mainland institutions. The University has embraced the ideal of a broader student mix. Since 1998, it has been recruiting outstanding mainland undergraduate students. Starting from the 2005–06 student intake, the University is the first local university to take part in the National Colleges and Universities Enrollment System, through which it can reach over 4 million candidates in 13 provinces and 4 municipalities on the mainland. Two hundred and fifty mainland undergraduates will be recruited in 2005.
