Part-time Undergraduate Studies 223 P art-time Undergraduate Studies General Information The University offers a part-time degree programme in music. Regulations governing this programme as well as admission procedures are given in Part 7 of this Calendar . The degree is awarded on the same basis as the full-time programmes described on p.125. Curriculum Structure The normal length of study for the part-time programme is five to six years, with three terms in each year. Secondary 6 and Secondary 7 students are required to complete at least 123 and 99 units of courses respectively before graduation. Apart from fulfilling requirements of the major subject, students are also required to take general education courses and elective courses in other disciplines. Students who satisfy special entrance requirements of this programme and are granted unit exemption at the time of admission shall complete at least 60 units of courses before graduation. Exemption from the major requirement of this programme shall also be given to students as prescribed in the study scheme. (Please see also Curriculum Structure of the full-time programmes on pp.126–128.) Starting from 1999–2000, all newly-admitted students are required to attain a certain level of competence in IT. They are expected to pass the IT Proficiency Test within their first year of attendance. Programmes Explanatory notes on codes To distinguish the part-time degree programme from its full-time counterpart, ‘P’ is used as the third letter in the course code. The other two letters stand for the subject, e.g. MUP and GEP stand for Music and General Education respectively.
