Providing academic and professional views on this dynamic industry is the mission of theAviation Policy and Research Centre, a research centre established in August 2004. The primary focus of the centre is placed on aviation related issues that will impact the immediate and the long term development of Hong Kong, Greater China, and the Asia-Pacific Region. The aim is to help improve evidence-based public policy-making and management of aviation related resources. Seminars are also held on a regular basis. The Centre aims at • providing support for the University’s designated Strategic Research Area, and related research initiatives; • facilitating and consolidating research efforts of individual faculty members in the study of Chinese business and management; and • serving as a gateway to research ideas and resources in Chinese business and management for researchers throughout the world. The mission is to inspire a passion for, and an understanding of, entrepreneurship among CUHK’s staff and students and the wider community. The centre conducts scholarly and applied research on entrepreneurship. A member of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) consortium, it participates in the single largest study of entrepreneurial activity in the world. The centre collaborates with business and research organizations in Hong Kong and Greater China to investigate issues affecting entrepreneurship. The research aims to generate recommendations for business, government and the community at large on how to improve conditions in which entrepreneurship can flourish. The centre’s education programme enhances and expands the University’s current offering of entrepreneurship courses. A virtual Hong Kong Hall of Entrepreneurship will feature Hong Kong’s entrepreneurial history and its eminent entrepreneurs.
