However a systematic and holistic approach to discussion about tangible and intangible heritage is lacking. Thus, we propose that a Centre for Cultural Heritage Studies should be set up to further promote related academic research and teaching as well as to study the management, policy formulation and development of cultural heritage preservation in China and the rest of Asia. The centre houses a state-of-the-art infant laboratory as well as a separate corner for testing and observing children and adolescents. Activities of the centre include: • conducting basic behavioural, cognitive, and neuropsychological research on infants, children, and adolescents; • applying the findings of developmental research to educational problems and family systems; • assessing a wide range of cognitive, social, and behavioural skills in infancy, childhood, and adolescence; and • forming partnerships with institutions in Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas to promote cross-cultural and cross-institutional developmental research.
