From registering for courses, viewing employment data to booking clinic services and sports facilities and accessing library, all can be done with a few clicks. Basic Computing Resources Computer accounts will be created for all University staff and students to access a wide range of computing resources : • Campus-Wide Email System Read or send emails through the CUHK Webmail system or email clients like Outlook, Outlook Express, etc. • Computer User Areas Open 24 hours a day; equipped with computers, scanners, digital senders, laser printers and discussion rooms. There are also computer laboratories in colleges, faculties and student hostels. • University Information Portal: MyCUHK A personalized access to campus information and various on-line applications through a single gateway. • Newsgroup Service Use the newsgroup service to exchange ideas with each other. • Personal Homepage Publish personal homepage on ihome , the University personal homepage server. • University Administrative Information System For course registration, employment related data enquiry, booking clinic services and sports facilities and many more. • Network Connection Anywhere and Anytime! Both wired and wireless network connections are available throughout campus. Off campus users can also connect to the campus network via VPN connection on broadband or 56K modem access. • IT Training Attend workshops and web-based training courses to acquire computer knowledge • Software License Programmes The University Campus License Programme gives staff and students the right to install a range of software products on their own computers, e.g. antivirus software. e-Learning Platform Learning experience is enriched with the e-Learning platform, through which teachers can post information for specific courses and students can access online learning materials, submit assignments, participate in class discussions, take quizzes, etc.
