404 Part 5 • Support Facilities, Services, and Staff Organizations Sir Run Run Shaw Hall/ Office of the Arts Administrator Tel.: 2609 7852 Fax. 2603 5141 Website: http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/srrsh http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/cuoaa With a seating capacity of 1,438, the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall is a professionally equipped auditorium suitable for holding ceremonies, assemblies, meetings, lectures and examinations, and for staging concerts, drama and dance performances, film shows and exhibitions. Temporary studio arrangement is possible on request. For further information, please visit the Hall’s website. The manager of Sir Run Run Shaw Hall is concurrently appointed as the Arts Administrator of the University. His duties include, in addition to the presentation of arts programmes, the promotion and coordination of campus-wide arts activities, and the provision of educational opportunities in the arts for the University’s students in relation to their aesthetic development. The Office of the Arts Administrator publishes a monthly Chinese University arts calendar Embark , which is mailed to all departments and units, and is obtainable at libraries, student hostels and canteens, and other prominent spots on campus. Copies of Embark can be mailed to individuals on request. The electronic version of Embark and related information are available at the Office of the Arts Administrator website. Sports Facilities Sports facilities on campus include two sports fields, three gymnasia, a swimming pool, 13 tennis courts, eight squash courts, four fitness rooms, and a water sports centre. The sports fields are built on the lowlands facing the sea. The Haddon-Cave Sports Field (with a seating capacity of 2,800) comprises a 400-metre all-weather track, a soccer pitch and an archery practice field. The Lingnan Stadium Sports Field encompasses a 400-metre track, a soccer pitch, three basketball courts, a handball court and a volleyball court. Both sports fields provide covered spectator stands and flood light facilities. Each of the three gymnasia (NewAsia, United, and University) houses badminton courts, and basketball/volleyball courts. Dance studios/table-tennis rooms are located near each gymnasium. There are six squash courts in the Kwok Sports Building beside the University Sports Centre. The multi-purpose hall on the Chung Chi campus provides similar facilities on a slightly smaller scale. On the Shaw College campus, there are two indoor squash courts, a basketball/table-tennis exercises room, a dance room and an outdoor basketball court. Adjacent to the Benjamin Franklin Centre, which is a staff–student amenities building, is an 50-metre outdoor swimming pool. The Water Sports Centre is located on the Tolo Harbour shoreline.
