30 Part 1 • General Information Part 1 programme, engage with a real-life issue of relevance to society, analyze the factors, constraints and options, and present their findings in a cogent, reasoned and persuasive manner. Students are expected to learn and participate actively through lectures, tutorials, presentations, group work, and the writing of term papers. The College will start to admit students into the new university curriculum (four years for most subjects) in 2012. To prepare for the first cohort of students, C.W. Chu College has started the planning and development of its mentorship scheme, service-learning programmes and many different cultural and social activities for students. It is exploring exchange opportunities with universities abroad, with the aim of enriching students’ cultural awareness, and helping them to develop cultural sensitivity as well as a global outlook. Endowment funds for scholarships and bursaries have also been set up to recognize excellence and provide support. Located at the Campus Circuit North, the College buildings will blend in with the lush and green surroundings. Apart from living quarters for the undergraduates, the buildings will house dining facilities for the entire membership of the College, and purpose-built space for tutorials, seminars and other collegiate activities. The construction of the College campus will begin in the fall of 2011, and is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2013. Before the completion of the College buildings, students will be provided with accommodation in the International House. Prof. Kenneth Young, Professor of Physics at CUHK, was appointed as the Master of C.W. Chu College in April 2011. Wu Yee Sun College The College was established in 2007 with very generous support from the Wu Yee Sun Charitable Foundation Limited. The College motto is ‘Scholarship and Perseverance’. In the College’s intimate and dynamic learning atmosphere, students will develop the drive for social entrepreneurship: a passion for innovation and creativity, and acumen in pursuing new projects and ideas, not just for personal gain but for the common good. Entrepreneurial spirit with social responsibility is a central focus of the College. Through its diverse programmes of general education, college student life, and cultural and overseas exchanges, the College aims to broaden students’ horizons (scholarship), and encourage them to forge ahead (perseverance) in making contributions to the society and leading a productive and rewarding life.
