Ho Hin-hung, senior lecturer i n physics, has been reappointed by HE the Governor as a member o f the Board o f Governors an d the Council o f Hong Kong Baptist College from 1s t July 1992 to 30th June 1995. • Dr . N g Lee-Ming, Registrar o f th e University, ha s been reappointed by HE the Governor as a member o f the Hong Kong Examinations Authority for one year from 1st August • Prof. Cheng Ts u Yu , senior research fellow o f th e Institute o f Chinese Studies, wa s appointed as visiting professor t o th e Oriental Language and Literature Department of Peking University on 25th April 1992. Prof. Cheng wa s also invited b y th e Society o f Oriental Culture Studies i n Beijing to serve as a member o f its academic committee. • Prof. Charles K . Kao , th e vice-chancellor, has been reappointed director o f the Provisional Hong Kong Industrial Technology Centre Company Limited for one year from 4th July 1992. • Dr . Chan Kai-ming, reader i n orthopaedics and traumatology, ha s been elected vice-president of the Hong Kong Medical Association from 1992 to 1994. • Dr . Thamis Wing-chun Lo , senior Iecturer i n international business, ha s been invited b y th e Hong Kong Polytechnic t o serve as an external examiner fo r it s sandwich/full-time Bachelor o f Arts (Hons) course i n Textile and Clothing Marketing for four years from 1991 to 1995. Dr . Lo has also been appointed as a member o f the Government's Senior Staff Course Advisory Board for two years from 11th May 1992. • Prof. Yeung Yue-man, professor o f geography, has been appointed by the Shandong Normal University as a member of its Consultative Committee on Regional Geography. • Dr . Augustine F . B . Cheng, senior lecturer i n microbiology, has been appointed by the Hong Kong College o f General Practitioners as an honorary contributing editorial consultant fo r 1992. Award s & Honour s • Prof. Charles K . Kao , th e vice-chancellor, was elected a Fellow o f the Academia Sinica, Taipei, on 9th July 1992. • Prof. S . T . Chang, chairman o f the Department o f Biology, ha s been elected a Fellow o f th e World Academy of Productivity Science. • Prof. C . N . Yang, Distinguished Professor-at-Large, received an honorary degree of Doctor of Science from Moscow State University i n May 1992.
