CUHK Newsletter No. 73 4th September 1995 5 宣布事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 語文基金一九九五年第二期撥款申請 The Language Fund Invites 1995 Second-round Applications 語文基金現接受一九九五年第二期撥款申請。該基金由 政府注入三億港元作爲初期撥款，旨在提高教師、學生和社 會人士運用中文（包括普通話）及英文的能力。 一九九四年的首次撥款申請，共有四十六份語文改善計 劃（廿六份中文/普通話、十四份英文及六份中英語文）獲得 撥款，總額七千二百五十萬元。該等計劃包括硏究、發展教 學資料、培訓，以及學生活動等，分布頗爲平均。 校方鼓勵教職員積極參與，協助提高本地的中英語文水 平。如欲進一步了解該基金的資助範圍及撥款細則，可與校 長室聯絡（內線七二七四）。索取申請表格，則請直接致電 語文基金秘書處（電話二八九二六六四二），截止申請日期 爲一九九五年九月三十日。申請者請把申請書副本乙份送交 校長室存案。 Second-round applications are now invited from all educational/training institutions, registered organizations, and interested individuals for allocations from the government's Language Fund in 1995. The main objective of the fund is to raise the standards of Chinese (including Putonghua) and English and enhance the use of the two languages in Hong Kong. Disbursements are expected to reinforce existing efforts in this area and to meet temporary shortfalls in language teaching resources. In the first allocation exercise in 1994, a total of $72.5 million was awarded to 26 project proposals related to the Chinese language, 14 related to English, and six related to both languages. The application deadline is 30th September 1995. Applicants should also send a copy of their application to the vice-chancellor for record. Details of the funding scheme are available at the Vice-Chancellor's Office (Ext. 7274). Further enquiries may be directed to the Personnel Office (Ext. 7286 or 7288). * Now open for application (internal deadline: 14th October 1995) 學生工讀計劃基金接受申請 Student Campus Work Scheme 1995-96 學生工讀計劃基金現接受一九九五至九六年度資助申 請。大學教職員可利用所得撥款，聘請本校有經濟需要的學 生於課餘協助進行硏究或其他工作，本年度硏究生及本科生 的時薪俱爲五十港元。有意者可向學生事務處索取申請表 格，並於一九九五年十月六日前交回該處（范克廉樓一零三 室）。 Applications for grants under the Student Campus Work Scheme are now invited from all academic and administrative staff of the University. The aim of the scheme is to help needy students by providing opportunities for paid campus work, in the form of assisting academics and administrators in their projects. Application forms can be obtained from the Office of Student Affairs at the Benjamin Franklin Centre, and should be returned to Room 103 of the same building by 6th October 1995. The remuneration rate for 1995-96 is HK$50 per hour. 偉倫訪問教授講座 Wei Lun Visiting Professor to Give Lecture 日本東京大學數學工程及訊息物理學講座教授甘利俊一 教授，應大學邀請出任偉倫訪問教授，並於九月十八日下午 四時三十分假何善衡工程學大樓五樓演講廳主持公開講座， 講題爲「電子計算和大腦」。歡迎出席。 Prof. Shun-ichi Amari, Professor of Mathematical Engineering and Information Physics, University of Tokyo, has been invited to visit this university as Wei Lun Visiting Professor. He will deliver a public lecture entitled 'Computer and the Brain' at 4.30 p.m. on 18th September 1995 in the auditorium of the Ho Sin-Hang Engineering Building.
