4 No. 158 19th January 2000 CUHK Newsletter 宣布事項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 共濟會研究東亞學科基金 The Freemasons' Fund for East Asian Studies 共濟會研究東亞學科基金現接受二 零零零年度資助申請。 該基金乃為資助及促進香港專上院 校對東亞之學術研究而設。資助形式包 括贊助學術研究、公開講座及出版專 書。資助額可為有關活動之全部或部分 費用。 申請人須把填妥之申請表及撮要 表，於二零零零年二月十九日前經系主 任及學院院長，或部門主管，送交人事 處人事主任盧杜燕萍女士，俾轉呈校內 有關委員會考慮。詳細資料及表格已送 交各學院院長。查詢請電人事處（內線 七二八八或七一九一）。 The Freemasons' Fund for East Asian Studies is i n v i t i ng one sponsored application for a grant from the University to subsidize studies relevant to East Asia in 2000. Full or partial support can be given in the form of research fellowships and sponsorships for surveys, public lectures, and publications. Applications endorsed by department chairs, f a c u l ty deans, or un it heads concerned should be forwarded w i th a c omp l e t ed a p p l i c a t i on f o r m and a summary form to Mrs. Betty Lo, Personnel Manager, on or before 19th February 2000 for submission to the relevant University committees for consideration. Details of the f und and application forms have already been sent to faculty deans. Extra copies are obtainable from the Personnel Office (Ext. 7288/7191). 公積金及終期額外酬金計劃成員注意 事項 Staff Superannuation Scheme (1983)/(1995) —Beneficiary Nomination 財務處印製了新的意願書，供需要 填寫兩個或以上的受益人的公積金成員 使用。 教職員公積金（ 1983 )/( 1995 )計劃及 丙類服務條例僱員終期額外酬金計劃的 成員，倘於舊的意願書內指定了兩個或 以上的受益人，請到人事處索取及填寫 新的意願書，以取代舊的。查詢請電財 務處吳先生（內線七二五一）或人事處劉 太（內線七二三零）。 A new Beneficiary Nomination Letter, which caters for situations where two or more beneficiaries are nominated, is now available at the Personnel Office. Staff members who have nominated two or mo re b e n e f i c i a r i es u s i ng the o l d Beneficiary Nomination Letter should replace it with the new one. Please direct enquires to Mr. Alan Ng (Ext. 7251) or Mrs. Margaret Lau (Ext. 7230). 乘搭穿梭校巴新措施 New Charging Policy for Shuttle Buses 由二零零零年二月起，中大員生在 星期日、公眾假期及暑假期間（六月至 八月）乘搭校園穿梭校巴，需使用乘車 券，每張一元；在上述日期乘搭校巴而 非使用乘車券者，需繳付車費每位五 元。 乘車券可在下列地點購買： •書院學生輔導處 •新研究院宿舍辦事處 •交通組 •保安組 With effect from February 2000, students and staff of the University are required to use $l-bus coupons when travelling on the University shuttle buses on Sundays, public holidays, and during the summer months from June to August. The coupons are for sale at the following venues from 15th January 2000: • Dean of Students' Offices of the four colleges • New Postgraduate Hall Complex Office • Transport Unit • Security Unit Please also note that, from February 2000, passengers travelling on University shuttle buses without a coupon during the above periods are required to pay a fare of $5. The move is made to control the use of the shuttle bus service by visitors. 認識骨質疏鬆症 Osteoporosis Preventive Campaign 骨質疏鬆症是退化性疾病，病徵不 明顯，及至後期骨骼變得脆弱易折才為 人察覺。大多數人的骨質從卅五歲起便 漸漸減少。 保健處特於本月十九至廿四日在保 健醫療中心一樓舉辦「認識骨質疏鬆症」 健教活動，並安排免費骨質密度測試 (一月十九至廿一日）；而矯形外科及創 傷學系鄭振耀教授應邀於一月廿四日下 午一至二時在保健醫療中心會議室主持 講座，歡迎同人參加。 查詢及預約，請電黃姑娘(內線六四 二八）。 Osteoporosis is a d e b i l i t a t i ng bone disorder. Most people begin to lose bone mass once they reach 35, w i th visible symptoms appearing only after the disease has reached an advanced stage. Staff members can now check their bone status in the Health Education Room, 1/F, Health Centre, from 19th to 21st January 2000. Please call Ms. Wong at Ext. 6428 to register. A talk on osteoporosis w i ll be given by Prof. Jack Cheng of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology on 24th January 2000 at the Health Centre. The talk w i l l be given in Cantonese and all are welcome. 自我檢査乳房工作坊 乳癌是女性常見的惡性腫瘤，早期 無痛，亦不會引致身體不適，較難察 覺，自我檢查乳房是及早發現乳癌的最 佳方法。 保健處將於二月廿九日、三月廿八 日及四月廿五日上午九時至十時半，在 保健醫療中心一樓健教室舉行自我檢查 乳房工作坊，內容包括講座、錄像帶播 放和模形實習。每班名額十人，報名及 查詢請電黃姑娘（內線六四二八）。 香港亞太硏究所資料室開放時間 Opening Hours of HKIAPS Documentation Unit 香港亞太研究所資料室不斷搜羅香 港及東亞的最新研究資料，其中包括一 九五零年代迄今的香港剪報和該所出版 的研究著作，歡迎員生使用。 資料室的開放時間為週一至週五下 午二時至四時四十五分，以及週二和週 四上午九時半至下午十二時四十五分。 The Documentation Unit of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies houses an uninterrupted collection of Hong Kong newspaper clippings since the mid- 1950s and o f countless unpublished surveys (private and agency studies). Since 1990, a complementary collection has been built to record the development of Asia and the Pacific, drawing its basic r e f e r e n ce m a t e r i a ls f r o m m a j o r i n t e r n a t i o n a l, g o v e r nme n t a l, non- governmental, and academic institutions of the region. A l l faculty members and students are welcome to consult the source materials kept by the unit. Full-time staff members can now access the complete Staff Handbook and various personnel-related application forms in PDF format. The Staff Training and Development Section of the homepage will also entertain online enquiry about internal and external training and development opportunities. Users can find information on University- wide staff training programmes, special discount packages, and selected courses offered by external organizations.
