宣 布 事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 英文榮休講座教授 Emeritus Professor of English 大學校董會授以英文榮休講座教授銜予姜安道教授（ P r o f . Andrew T.L. P a r k i n ) ，由二零零一年一月一日起生效，以表揚他的 學術成就和對大學的貢獻。 姜教授一九九一年加入本校服務，領導英文系發展，並參與 文學院、逸夫書院和大學多個委員會的工作。一九九五年起，他更 出任大學典禮讚辭人，與金聖華教授合作，分擔英文及中文讃詞的寫作及宣讀。 他編著學術書籍多種，發表文章及書評超過一百篇，而他的詩作刊於不同國家的刊 物，並有三冊詩集。他曾獲《加拿大愛爾蘭研究學報》最傑出榮休編輯銜，最近又獲委任 為康乃爾大學葉慈全集的編輯委員。 姜教授又致力籌辦詩歌朗誦和文化活動，並到多國大學演講和主持座談會。他也是 多個國際學術組織的成員。 姜安道教授將於本月卅一日榮休。 Prof. Andrew Parkin has been awarded the title of Emeritus Professor of English by the University Council, to take effect from 1st January 2001. Prof. Parkin joined the University in 1991 as professor of English, and was chairman of the Department of English twice from 1991 to 1994 and from 1997 to June 2000. He has also served on all major committees of the department and many college- and university-level committees, advising on matters relating to language enhancement, examinations, students exchange, staff- student relations, and scholarships. He has also served as a public orator for the University's congregations since 1995. As a poet. Prof. Parkin has published three collections of poetry and his works have also been anthologized. He has authored or edited several academic books and published over a hundred essays and book reviews. Prof. Parkin retires from service at the University on 31 st December 2000. 防止賄賂條例 Gifts? Bribery? 根據本港條例，香港中文大學為公共機構，並受《防止賄賂條例》之管制。條例中第 三條〈接受利益規例〉及第四條〈賄賂條例〉旁及所有公共機構僱員。 聖誕節、元旦及農曆新年將至，本校僱員擬贈送或收受禮品，而又不能確定該等贈 受是否抵觸《防止賄賂條例》，請先參閱條例之有關細節。 《防止賄賂條例》原文單行本分存大學各圖書館和新聞及公共關係處(碧秋樓三樓）， 以備同人參考。 The University is a public body listed under the Schedule of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (CAP 201, Laws of Hong Kong). A ll University employees are classified as 'public servants' under the ordinance and should be wary of accepting gifts which could be construed as being offered to them in connection with their 'public' capacities. As the Christmas and New Year holidays are approaching, members of the staff who wish to give away or accept any gifts in this festive season and are in doubt as to whether such gifts are permissible under the law should first consult the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance. Copies of the ordinance are available for reference at the University Library and its branch libraries, as well as at the Information and Public Relations Office (2nd floor, Pi Ch'iu Building). 免費骨質密度測試 Osteoporosis Preventive Campaign 骨質疏鬆症是退化性疾病，沒有明顯病徵，大多數人從三十五歲起便漸漸流失骨 質，直至後期骨胳變得脆弱才察覺。 保健處將於一月八至十二日舉行「認識骨質疏鬆症」健教活動，並於保健處健康教育 室為同人免費測試骨質密度。查詢及預約，請電內線六四二八(黃姑娘）。 Osteoporosis is a debilitating bone disorder. After 35 years of age, most people begin to lose bone mass, with visible symptoms appearing only after the disease has reached an advanced stage. Now staff members can have their bone status assessed for free using the ultrasound sonometer at the Health Education Room on the first floor of the Health Centre, from 8th to 12th January. Medical advice and pamphlets will also be available. Please call Ext. 6428 to register. 新書 中國文化研究所 《與中大一同成長：香港中文大學與 中國文化研究所圖史1949-1997》 此書通過大量照片、資料，以及許多人的撰述與回憶，為中文大學與 中國文化研究所過去半個世紀的歷程，勾勒了一幅生動圖像，所有中大人 都應對之感到興趣。 全書分兩部分。第一部「歷史的足印」共 六章，縷述書院、中大以及中國文化研究所 的發展與蛻變，包括七十年代體制改革與 八、九十年代學制變化等重大事件始末。第 二部「回顧與前瞻」包括二十六篇追憶與文化 展望的文章，為中大人文學者的生平、事業 及觀點呈現萬花筒式的景觀。 全書三百二十頁，收錄三百三十餘張照 片，其中二百張為彩照，另附紀事年表、中 國文化研究所紀要及詳細索引，於中文大學 出版社、商務印書館、中大辰衝書店和富爾敦樓大學紀念品銷售處發售， 定價二百五十港元。中大教職員及學生憑證在中文大學出版社及中大辰衝 書店購買該書，可獲八折優待。 Service to the Community and International Organizations • Prof. Liu Pak Wai, professor of economics, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission for two years from 1st November 2000. Prof. Liu has also been nominated as Distinguished Fullbright Scholar in 2000-1. • Prof. Leung Ping-chung, professor of orthopaedics and traumatology, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Panel of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) Witness Protection Review Board from 9th November 2000 to 31 st December 2000. • Prof. Chung Yue-ping, professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy, has been appointed by the Education and Manpower Bureau of the HKSAR Government as a member of the Education Reform Liaison Team for one year from 1st September 2000. • Prof. Xu Yang-sheng, associate professor in the Department of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering, has been appointed by the Education and Manpower Bureau of the HKSAR Government as a member of the Education Reform Liaison Team for three years from 14th October 2000. • Prof. Tony Chung, professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has been appointed by the Secretary for Health and Welfare as a member of the Midwives Council of Hong Kong for three years from 1 st October 2000. • Prof. Ching Pak-chung, professor of electronic engineering, has been appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Industry as chairman of the Accreditation Advisory Board for two years from 1st November 2000. • Prof. Helen Chiu, professor in the Department of Psychiatry, has been appointed as a member of the International Editorial Board of the Journal Psychogeriatrics from January 2001. She has also been appointed honorary professor of the Department of Psychiatry at the Hunan Medical University from October 2000 to October 2003.
