CUHK Newsletter No. 208 4th October 2002 4 宣布事項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 新任校董 New Council Member 大學校董會依據大學規程 11 第1 (m) 段規定，選任鄭維健博 士為大學校董，任期三年，由二 零零二年九月十一日起生效。 鄭維健博士過去三十年曾 在美國及香港從事醫療、公共服務、商業和金融等多方 面的工作。 鄭博士在香港完成中學課程後，負笈美國聖母院大 學及威斯康辛醫學院，畢業後即從事醫療工作，曾在康 乃爾大學醫學院任臨床醫學副教授，以及在紐約斯隆一 凱特林癌病中心擔任醫生及硏究員。在八十年代，鄭博士返回香港，協助家族經 營業務及從事公共服務，其後接任環球(香港)投資有限公司主席兼董事總經理， 並於一九九九年二月至二零零一年十二月暫時離職，出任香港特別行政區政府中 央政策組首席顧問。 鄭博士曾任多家公司的董事及財經機構的要職，也曾獲委為多個政府委員會 和小組成員，包括恆生銀行副主席及非執行董事、香港聯合交易所主席、國際證 券交易所聯會副會長、香港金融研究中心董事、大學教育資助委員會主席、教育 統籌委員會委員、總督商務委員會委員、司法人員推薦委員會委員及新機場調查 委員會委員。 Dr. Edgar Cheng has been elected by the Council as a member under Statute 11.1 (m) of the University Ordinance for a period of three years from 11 th September 2002. Over the last 30 years, Dr. Cheng has had several careers in Hong Kong and the US in medicine, public service, and business and finance. He embarked on amedical career after graduating from the University of Notre Dame and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He was clinical associate professor of medicine at Cornell University Medical College and served as physician and researcher at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre. In the 1980s Dr. Cheng returned to Hong Kong to assist his family in both business and public service, becoming the chairman and managing director of The World-Wide Investment Co. Ltd. Between February 1999 and December 2001, he served the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government as Head of the Central Policy Unit. He has also served as director/member of many companies and financial institutions, including as non-executive director and vice-chaimian of Hang Seng Bank Ltd., chairman of the Council of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, and vice-president of the International Federation of Stock Exchange. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research. Active in community service, he was once chairman of the University Grants Committee, member of the Education Commission, member of the Governor's Business Council, and commissioner of the Commission of Inquiry on the New Airport. 社區醫學榮休講座教授 Emeritus Professor of Community Medicine 經教務會推薦，大學校董會通過頒授社區醫學榮休 講座教授名銜予李紹鴻教授，由二零零二年八月一日起 生效，以表揚他的學術成就和對大學的貢獻。 李紹鴻教授一九六零年起服務於醫務衛生署，九四 年退休後，出任本校醫學院社區醫學講座教授兼社區及 家庭醫學系系主任，又推動香港建立公共衛生學院。透 過醫學院的支持及獲得香港賽馬會慈善信託基金捐款， 中大的全港首間公共衛生學院得以興建，並於二零零一 年六月正式開幕。李教授亦出任公共衛生學院首任院 長，現為中大社區及家庭醫學系名譽教授。 在大學任內的七年中，李紹鴻教授致力發展社區及家庭醫學與公共衛生的工 作，開辦公共衛生、流行病學及健康教育的碩士課程，創建健康教育及促進健康 中心，開設健康教育文憑課程，並推動「健康學校」及「健康城市」計劃。 李教授亦擔任其他很多校內和社會公共職務，更促使成立三個本地專業學 會，又推動地區和國際衛生組織的聯繫。 他於一九八八年獲得世界衛生組織亞太區獎牌，二零零零年獲得亞太區公共 衛生協會的領導成就獎及香港特別行政區政府的銀紫荊星章，今年五月獲得中國 吸煙與健康協會的中國控煙貢獻獎，以表揚他對亞太區的公共衛生及控煙工作的 卓越貢獻。 Prof. Lee Shiu-hung, who retired as professor of community medicine on 30th June 1999, has been awarded the title of Emeritus Professor of Community Medicine from 1st August 2002 in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and distinguished service to the University. Currently honorary professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine, Prof. Lee joined the Medical and Health Department of the Hong Kong Government in 1960. He became the first Director of Health in Hong Kong when the Department of Health was established in April 1989. Prof. Lee joined The Chinese University in 1994 after his retirement from civil service, and served as professor of community medicine, chairman of the Department of Community and Family Medicine, and founding director of the School of Public Health, whose establishment he initiated. From 1994 to 2001, he helped introduce postgraduate master's degree programmes in public health, epidemiology, health education, and health promotion. He was also chairman of the University Health Service Committee and convener of the Steering Committee on the Extra Outpatient Services. During his term of office at CUHK, Prof. Lee also initiated the establishment of three territory-wide professional associations which work closely with the University, and served as their founding chairman. They are the Hong Kong Society for Infectious Diseases, the Hong Kong Epidemiological Association, and the Hong Kong Health Education and Health Promotion Foundation. Fee rebate has not been reflected. 鼻煙壺展覽及內畫示範 Exhibition on Snuff Bottles and Demonstration of Inside Painting 「壺中墨妙：誦先茶室藏内畫鼻煙壺」 展覽將於本月十九日至明年二月在文物 館東翼展覽廳舉行，展出約一百六十個鼻煙壺，全面介紹十九至二十世紀早期之 內畫鼻煙壺藝術，包括甘烜文、周樂元、馬少宣、葉仲三、丁二仲等名家的佳 作。他們以精妙繪工，在鼻煙壺裡呈現傳統中國繪畫藝術的多種題材，包括山 水、人物、花鳥、寓意吉祥的圖案等。歡迎參觀。 開幕禮於十月十八日（星期五)下午四時半舉行，由國際鼻煙壺學會會長霍約 翰先生及王習三大師主持剪綵禮。 文物館為配合展覽並推廣內畫藝術，特別邀請王習三大師親臨示範，於本月 十九日（星期六)下午二時半在中國文化硏究所一二六室即場展現內畫鼻煙壺之技 藝特色。 An exhibition on 'Inkplay in Microcosm: Chinese Inside-painted Snuff Bottles — The Humphrey K.F. Hui Collection' will be held from 19th October 2002 to February 2003 in the East-wing Galleries of the Art Museum. On view will be around 160 inside-painted snuff bottles by renowned masters of the 19th and the early 20th centuries, including Gan Xuanwen, Zhou Leyuan, Ye Zhongsan, Ding Erzhong, and other minor artists. Through the spectacular painting technique and the individual styles of the masters, the traditional themes of Chinese painting including landscapes, figures, birds and flowers, as well as a variety of auspicious designs will be presented through the inside painting of the snuff bottles. The preview and opening ceremony will be held at 4.30 p.m. on 18th October 2002. Mr. John Ford, president of the International Snuff Bottle Society, and Master Wang Xisan will cut the ribbon. In conjunction with the exhibition, and to promote the appreciation of inside painting, Master Wang Xisan will demonstrate the various techniques and explain the necessary procedures for the production of inside-painted snuff bottles at Room 126, Institute of Chinese Studies, at 2.30 p.m. on 19th October 2002 (Saturday).
