Tse Room, Chung Chi Colleg e Th r ee HongKongSchoolsShow H e a l t h is Gold T hree schools in Hong Kong will be presented the gold award in the Hong Kong Health Schools Award Scheme by the University's Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion and the Education and Manpower Bureau of the HKSAR. The schools have attained standards set by WHO an d performed excellently i n six key areas for health promoting schools. They have also assisted a partner schoo l to develop into a healthy school in the six key areas. The scheme encourages, through health promotion, educational achievement, better health and emotional well-being, thereb y helping students to improve the quality of their lives. It is the first territory-wide healthy schools movement recognized as meeting WHO standard s by the WHO Wester n Pacific Regiona l Office. There are now 5 7 primary schools , 35 secondary schools , and 11 special schools joining the scheme. In the past two years, 27 schools were presented silver and bronze awards. This year, 26 schools will be presented a total of three gold, nine silver, and 14 bronze awards. Both Mr. Stephe n Yip Yam-wing , chie f curriculum developmen t officer (life-wid e learnin g an d library section ) o f the Education an d Manpower Bureau, and Prof. Albert Lee, director of the Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion, congratulated the awardees for thei r outstanding achievement . A forma l award presentation ceremony wil l be scheduled later this year.
