Lau, Vice-Chancellor, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the Task Force on Economic Challenges. • Prof. So Fong-suk Jenny, Professor of Fine Arts, has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR as a member of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority for two years from 23 October 2008. • Prof. Chu Lee-man, associate professor in the Department of Biology, has been re-appointed by the Chief Secretary for Administration as a member of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee for two years from 16 October 2008. • Miss Choy Fung-peng Abril, instructor in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, has been re-appointed by the Secretary for Security as an adjudicator of the Immigration Tribunal for two years from 1 October 2008. • Ms. Lo Dak-wai Alexandra, professional consultant in the Faculty of Law, has been re-appointed by the Secretary for Security as an adjudicator of the Immigration Tribunal for two years from 1 October 2008. She has also been appointed by the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society as a member of the Hospital Governing Committee and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Committee of the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society Jockey Club Cancer Rehabilitation Centre. • Prof. Sian Griffiths, Professor of Public Health and director of the School of Public Health, has been appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of the Appeal Board Panel under the Rabies Ordinance for two years from 10 October 2008. She has been also appointed as an honorary professor of the Cardiff University for five years from 1 October 2008 and a member of the Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases, Food and Health Bureau for two years from 20 October 2008. • Prof. Kwan Hoi-shan, dean of the Faculty of Science, has been appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development as the chairman of the Accreditation Advisory Board on an ad personam basis for two years from 1 November 2008. • Prof. Lee Kam-hon, Professor of Marketing and director of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, has been appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development as a member of the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents for two years from 19 November 2008. • Prof. Fok Tai-fai, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, has been re- appointed by the Secretary for Food and Health as a member of the Hospital Authority for two years from 1 December 2008. • Prof. Tso Wung-wai, adjunct professor in the Department of Biochemistry (Science), has been appointed by the Deputy Secretary for Development (Planning and Lands) as a member of the Appeal Tribunal Panel under Section 45 of the Buildings Ordinance for one year from 1 December 2008. • Prof. Lau Tak-fai Joseph, director of the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics, has been appointed as a visiting professor of the Department of Anthropology at Sun Yat-sen University from July 2008 to June 2011. • Prof. Leung Ho-fung, professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been registered as a manager of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada Ka Chi Secondary School, under the category of Sponsoring Body Manager for two years from 30 September 2008. • Prof. Qin Ling, director of the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, has been elected as the president of the International Chinese Hard Tissue Society (ICHTS) in September 2008, to start his term in September 2009. • Prof. Lee Tze-fan Diana, Professor of Nursing, director of the Nethersole School of Nursing, and assistant dean of the Faculty of Medicine, has been appointed as an honorary professor of the School of Nursing of Guangzhou Medical College on 8 November 2008.
