Yang Prof. Yang Chen-ning celebrated his 90th birt hday in a dinner banquet on 15 September with staff, students and alumni of the Chinese University, and cut the birthday cake with Mrs. Yang. The University announced that the CN Yang Archive Online (website: cnyangarchive.cuhk.edu.hk) is now open to the public—as a tribute to Professor Yang. A Jubilant Time This year, patchy weather and scattered showers were the setting to the graduation ceremony, yet the moods of the graduates didn’t seem to have been dampened. Once the rain let up, they tossed their mortarboards into the air to celebrate the completion of university education. They were accompanied by Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Dr. Vincent H.C. Cheng, Chairman of the University Council and Prof. Benjamin W. Wah, Provost of CUHK. The University conferred three honorary doctorate degrees, some 8,700 doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees in 2012. But they should have the interest of society in mind.’ 喜氣洋洋的日子 今年畢業典禮的天氣陰晴不定,偶爾更有陣陣細雨,但無損一眾畢 業生的愉悅心情。一俟天空放晴,他們即走到戶外,與沈祖堯校 長、校董會主席鄭海泉博士、華雲生常務副校長齊「拋帽」慶祝, 為充實多姿的大學生活作總結。 大學今年頒授榮譽博士學位予三位傑出人士,並頒發八千七百多個 博士、碩士和學士學位。(見第2 – 3頁)
