Through formal and informal education programmes, Shaw College aims to sharpen students’ intellectual acumen, broaden their horizons and enhance lifelong learning skills. They are expected to possess intellectual curiosity, integrity and social responsibility and be committed to serving the community, the nation and the world. Students have been invited to the Shaw Prize Public Forum at the Hong Kong Science Museum for the past two years. To develop a close and special bond between Shaw College and other universities/colleges, the College holds regular basketball friendly matches with Shaw College of CUHK, the Southern University of Science and Technology, and Shenzhen University. Currently, Shaw College has a student population of 1,351, of which 1,249 are undergraduates, 87 postgraduates and 15 exchange students. Shaw College Supported by a generous donation from the Shaw Foundation (Hong Kong) Limited, Shaw College, the first college of CUHK (SZ), was established in September 2016. The College provides students with a home where they can live and learn together, and share the joys of discovering knowledge with students from all over the world. With the educational goal of In Pursuit of Virtue and Excellence , the College promotes multiculturalism to enable students from overseas and all regions of China to live in harmony and learn from each other. Most of the College’s events are conducted in both Chinese and English. These include the series of activities called ‘A Taste of Elegancy’—wine tasting, ballroom dance class and business etiquette training—and events that introduce students to other cultures and traditions such as the Fiesta de Año Nuevo and the Halloween Festival. In the spirit of the college system of CUHK, all undergraduate and postgraduate students admitted to CUHK (SZ) can apply for affiliation with one of the Colleges. CUHK (SZ) provides full residence. Wardens and resident tutors help promote hostel life and enhance communication among residents. CUHK (SZ) has four Colleges, namely, Shaw College, situated in Phase 0 of the campus, and Diligentia College, Muse College and Harmonia College, all located in the northern part of the campus. The Colleges
