Student Brochure 2019

23 Students are encouraged to take up pro bono services, from which their own lives are in turn enriched. They have impacted communities far beyond the confines of campus, bringing positive changes to different parts of the world, such as building bridges for rural areas of mainland China, teaching English in Tanzania and providing medical services in Nepal. Competitions play an important role in motivating students to perform and excel and offer a lot more reward than just the winning prize. Participants get to gain substantial experience, showcase skills and uncover personal aptitude. Throughout the year CUHK students can be found solving business strategy cases in Europe, battling their way through rounds of English speaking contest in Asia, or pitching entrepreneurial ideas in the US. Every year, the HSBC Overseas Scholarship Scheme grants scholarships for local students to spend an academic term or a year at universities across the world. Hanniel Chow, a psychology student who also excels in music and sports, was awarded a scholarship of HK$160,000 from the Scheme to study at UCLA.
