Such s u p p o rt a m o u n t ed to s ome $8 m i l l i on i n 1994-95, i n c l u d i ng $5 m i l l i o n as seed m o n e y for eight strategic p r o g r ammes i n v o l v i ng a large n umb er o f academics, a n d the rest for other smaller projects a n d the Ma i n l i ne Research Scheme, w h i c h s u p p o r ts c o l l a b o r a t i on w i t h l e a d i ng institutions abroad. Wh i l e the Un i v e r s i ty has b e e n successful i n attracting v e ry substantial s ums i n s u p p o rt o f ma ny research projects, it mu st be stressed that i n ma ny specialities there are e x c e l l e nt research projects that d o n ot r e q u i re m u c h f u n d i n g. 研究評核 R e s e a r ch A s s e s s me nt 隨著公私撥款的增加,校方有更大責任向公眾交代其硏究成績。本校的科硏成績於一 九九三至九四年度曾接受大學教育資助委員會評核;委員會更把評核結果與其部分撥款掛 鈎。校方因應此發展,於一九九四至九五年間擬訂新的內部資源分配計劃,把研究表現列 爲校內資源分配的考慮因素之一。爲此,各學系都接受正式的硏究評核,成績優異者,將 伍德華博士(右) 現正與同事合編一本中、英文對照的香港手語工具書。 Dr. James Woodward (right) and a group of scholars at the University are working on a three-way reference book for Hong Kong sign language translated in both Chinese and English. 黃潘慧仙教授的研究小組發現某個遺傳基因的缺失,可能是鼻咽癌成因之 一。鼻咽 癌在香港華裔人士之中發病率特別高。 A group led by Dr. Dolly Huang have identified a missing gene as a possible cause of the unusually high incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer among Hong Kong Chinese.
