K n o w n f o rme r ly as the Department of Extramural Studies, it has ma de available c o n t i n u i ng education a nd professional education p r o g r ammes to the general p u b l ic for the past 30 years. I n 1994-95, over 35,000 students benefited f r om the School's general courses a n d its various degree, d i p l oma, certificate a n d distance e d u c a t i o n p r o g r a mm e s. A series o f p r o g r a mm es o n traditional Chinese medicine we re also launched this year i n c o n j u n c t i on w i t h the Ch e n g du College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. T h e A r t G a l l e r y o f t h e U n i v e r s i t y, r e n a m ed the A rt M u s e um d u r i ng the year, c o n t i n u ed to e n r i ch the cultural life of H o n g K o n g b y p r omo t i ng a deeper appreciation of the arts t h r o u gh its exhibitions, publications a n d seminars.
