研究評核 Research Assessment 隨著公私撥款的增加,校方有更大責任向公眾交代其硏究成績。本校的科硏成果曾於一九九三至 九四年度接受大學教育資助委員會(當時稱為大學及理工教育資助委員會)評核;委員會更把評核 結果與其部分撥款掛鉤。該委員會在一九九六至九七年度進行了第二次硏究評核,校方亦因應實 施第二次內部評核,並提高了對研究成果的要求,又據學院和學系的表現而決定其應得資源。 評核之最終意義並非方便撥款或是引進部門之間的比較和競爭,而是鼓勵校方自我檢討,了解每 一單位的強項和弱項,從而訂定整體發展的方向。 A higher level of financial support rightly requires a greater degree of accountability to the public. A Research Assessment Exercise was conducted by the (then) University and Polytechnic Grants Committee in 1993-94, the results of which formed the basis of a part of the funding to the University. The second Research Assessment Exercise was carried out in 1996-97. In response to these developments, the Universit y conducted its own second internal research assessment exercise in 1996-97, moving towards a scheme of internal allocation of resources to faculties and departments that, likewise, containe d a performance-based criterion. A much higher level of performance was expected in the second internal assessment exercise. The primary objective of the assessment is no t so much to induce competition, but to provide an occasion for the University to take a serious look at itself, to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each unit, and to set goals for the future. 專利權 Patent Activities 中大敎硏人員的應用研究增長迅速,是以校方制定並通過「研究、諮詢顧問服務及知識產權政 策」,統一校內處理知識產權的政策。自實施該政策以來,截至一九九七年六月,校方共收到十 九份發明報告;其中十一項已經由本校或校外合作伙伴申請有關之專利權,另有六項仍在審議階 段。 40 研 究
