教與學的素質 校方每年都會檢討保證敎學素質的程序、課程結構、科目內容和敎學 方法，以確保敎學機制能應付外在環境的轉變。本年的科目檢討便在 各科問卷加入有關科目本身及授課老師表現的問題，並統一量度尺 度，以提高其效用。此外，校方亦於一九九七年年中全面檢討大學的 通識敎育制度，其後推行一個結構更完善的通識敎育課程，為不同年 級的學生提供不同的通識選修範圍，並試辦了一項模範綜合通識科 目，反應十分理想。書院的通識課程也將於一九九八至九九年增加一 學分，使之可加強課程內容。 在語文敎育方面，校方除了在大學、書院和學院不同層面舉辦語文改 善活動，更撥款支持小型的語文改善計劃，並為所有本科新生首辦 「普通話、粵語及英語精修課程」，敎授基本的語言學技巧，效果令 人滿意。 Teaching and Learning Quality The Universit y continue d t o revie w it s variou s qualit y assurance processes , academi c programmes , cours e contents, an d teachin g method s t o ensur e tha t the y ar e congruous wit h changin g circumstances , Th e effectivenes s of th e cours e evaluatio n exercis e wa s enhance d b y th e inclusion o f commo n question s o n th e cours e an d o n th e performance o f th e teacher , an d b y th e us e o f a standardized rating scal e acros s al l departments . A s a ne w endeavou r t o teac h student s basi c linguistic skills , a n Intensiv e Programm e i n Putonghua , Cantonese and Englis h wa s introduce d i n 1997-9 8 fo r al l new full-tim e undergraduates , whic h wa s ver y wel l receive d by th e students . 學術交流 本年度大學不同單位曾接待兩岸逾千名訪問學者及百多個學術代表 團，並根據三十多項學術交流協議，與北京大學、清華大學、復旦大 學、上海交通大學、西安交通大學、南京大學及浙江大學等主要 大學開展師生交流活動。校方於年中建立的重點合作項目有： •在北京大學國際交流處所在地南閣設立中大的駐北大聯絡處，推 展與內地高校的合作，又與北京大學簽訂聯合培養硏究生的協 議。 •與北京大學、清華大學及北京行政學院合作舉辦「中國就業發展 獎勵計劃」，以增加本校學生的就業機會；又在復旦大學及上 海行政學院協助下，把計劃推展至上海。 The inaguration of the Assiociation of Univeristy Presidents of China
