敎學輔助設施 Academic Support Facilities 圓書館服務 新猷 大學圖書館系統在過去一年推出多項新猶以方便讀者，例如利 用電子郵件與所有新生聯絡；舉辦過百個講座以敎導學生如 何利用圖書館資源；提供網上的香港中文期刊論文索引，方便 讀者尋找刊載於五十多份中文或雙語期刊的論文；引進電子 指定讀物系統，以數碼形式儲存及傳遞經敎師指定的讀物； 擴大及翻新視聽資料組，並延長其開放時間；推出採購網頁， 為敎師提供有關採購圖書的最新資訊；以及為圖書館系統增 添各種電子資料庫。 l i b r a r y s e r v i c e s New Initiatives Many user-friendly initiatives were introduced by the University Library System to improve services during 1998-99. These included using e-mail to send notices to and receive notices from all new students ; organizing over 100 seminars to strengthen students' competence in using library resources; making available on the web the HKinCHIP, which is a n index of Chinese articles published in over 50 selected magazines in Hong Kong ； introducing 'Electronic Reserve', a system that provides, in digitalized format, full-text s of assigned or recommended course readings placed on reserv e by teachers; enlarging and renovating the audio-visual department and extending its opening hours; launching a new Acquisitions Webpage to provide faculties with up-to-date information regarding acquisition activities; and adding new electronic databases and journals to the library collection. Major Milestones The year 1998-99 also saw the inauguration o f the Hong Kong International MEDLARS Centre, one of 11 similar centres around the world and the only one in Asia, which provides seamless retrieval/ document delivery service to health professionals worldwide.
