The average monthly salary (including all allowances) was HK$51,329. 「行政總裁講座」由業界領袖向學生介紹各行各業的前景 Industry leaders sharing with CU students their views on the outlook of their respective industries in the 'Meeting the CEO' series or private enterprises i n major mainland cities. Students usually spend four to 12 weeks on the mainland d u r i ng the summer mo n t hs fo r such training, w h i ch is delivered t h r o u gh lectures, visits, and internship. T he local job market showed some signs of recovery i n 1999-2000. A b o u t 4,200 companies placed recruitment advertisements t h r o u gh the Career Planning and Development Centre, i n v i t i ng applications f or over 20,000 vacancies. T o better equip the students for emp l o yme n t, a substantial n umb er of career guidance programmes, exhibitions, and recruitment talks were organized for over 13,000 participants. W i t h regard to graduate emp l o yme n t, over 78 per cent of the 1999 graduates were able to secure long-term emp l o yme nt by the end of A p r i l 2000, w i t h close to 69 per cent j o i n i ng the commercial and industrial sector, 19 per cent j o i n i ng the education field, and another 19 per cent deciding to further their studies.
