地盤 入口 洗濯池，可減少附於車輛上的塵 土。 A vehicle washing pool at the entrance of a construction site S A R S 爆發之後，部分學生宿舍、講堂和辦公室 懷疑受到病毒污染，是以校方曾進行大規模的消 毒工作，另嚴格執行校園清潔措施，包括有系統 地收集及清理用過的手術口罩。 綠 化 及 環 保 大學為保護校園內稀有的本土植物品種，今年擬 定了受保護的品種清單和保護的準則，並與嘉道 理農場合作硏究在校園栽種其他本土植物，使校 內植物更多元化。校方又和香港觀鳥會合作，開 展全面調查，了解校園的鳥類數目和品種，作為 日後保護雀鳥計劃的基準。 為改善戶外空氣素質，大學指示所有建築工程承 建商把建築材料蓋好，並使用淋濕法、噴灑法、 洗濯池等，防止塵土飛揚。 校內主要辦公樓宇和五十五個戶外要點都設有廢 物回收箱，方便把廢物分類收集。可循環再用的 廢物由收集商每星期收集一次；舊書和舊衣服等 則定期收集，並轉交慈善團體。 中大今年開始陸續在敎學樓宇安裝自動化系統， 以提高各種設施的操作效率和安全程度；課室及 學生宿舍亦裝設了自動感應器，以落實校園的能 源功率改善計劃，致力避免浪費。校方又開展全 training for staff and students; regular on-site advisory inspections related to safety; monitoring laboratory-related research grant applications; supervising radiation services for laboratories and implementing a radiation permit system and a radiation safety co-ordinator system; evaluating construction safety plans; and coordinating the purchase and delivery of dangerous goods and the disposal of chemical and biological wastes. In response to the SARS epidemic that broke out during the year, large- scale disinfection was conducted in student hostels, lecture halls, and offices with confirmed or suspected cases. General cleanlines on campus was vigilantly maintained and used surgical masks were systematically collected from different buildings for safe disposal. Greening and Conservation To protect and conserve rare native plant species on the campus, the University compiled a list of the species to be protected and the criteria for protection. In addition, collaboration was sought from the Kadoorie Farm to study the planting of native species to enhance biodiversity on campus, and from the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society to conduct a comprehensive survey of the population and species of birds on the campus as a benchmark for future planning. To improve outdoor air quality, contractors were instructed to cover the construction materials properly and to use wetting, spraying and a washing pool to suppress dust emission from construction sites.
