Prof. Reinhard Selten (中, middle) Prof. Ambrose Y.C. King, vice-chancellor, was appointed member of the 15th Board of Directors of Feng Chia University in Taiwan. Prof. Joseph Sung, professor of medicine and therapeutics, was named an 'Asian hero' by Time magazine for his contribution to the fight against SARS. Prof. Yang Chen Ning, distinguished professor-at-large, was conferred an honorary Doctor of Science degree by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Prof. Xu Yangsheng of the Department of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering and Prof. Yeung Wai-ho of the Department of Information Engineering were elected IEEE Fellows. Promotion of Art and Culture Each year the University and its constituent colleges organize a variety of distinguished professorship/fellowship schemes wh i ch bring outstanding scholars the world over to the campus. The public lectures and seminars they give invigorate the intellectual community of Hong Kong and generate beneficial academic exchanges. Prominent visitors during 2002-3 included Prof. Lee Yuan-tseh, Nobel laureate in chemistry; Prof. Reinhard Selten, Nobel laureate in economic sciences; Mr. Xiang Huaicheng, minister of finance, China; Prof. Donald J. Munro, professor emeritus of philosophy and Chinese at the University of Michigan; Prof. Chen Shupeng, renowned geographer; Prof. Fu Shen of the Graduate Institute of Art History in Taiwan; Prof. Chen Mingzhe, vice dean of medicine at Tsinghua University; Prof. Tony F. Chan, dean of the Division of Physical Sciences, College of Letters and Science at the University of California at Los Angeles; Prof. Michael Dempster, professor of management studies at the University of Cambridge; Prof. Ewald M.
