研究 Research 41 Warwick University. The research overturned conventional explanations of the evolution of American criminal justice as propounded by leading American legal historians. The book, Jury Trials and Plea Bargaining , also published in Chinese in 2006 by the Law Press, Beijing, was considered by the British Journal of Criminology to ‘inform and inspire both current and future research’. Research Funding The University’s research infrastructure is funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) and some research projects are supported by the Research Grants Council (RGC). For the year 2005-06, over HK$112 million was awarded by the RGC to the University for conducting research, of which HK$98 million was allocated in the form of Competitive Earmarked Research Grants (CERG). The University also obtained research funding totaling HK$97 million from the Innovation and Technology Fund and HK$8 million from the Quality Education Fund. Overall, researchers continued to perform well in securing funding from the government and the private sector. In the year under review, the Research Committee disbursed a total of HK$27 million to research units.
