10 On 19 March 2009, CUHK signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Shenzhen Municipal Government to enhance collaboration in edu- cation and research. On the same day, ground was broken for the construction of the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute Building, a 10-storey project with a total floor area of 25,000 m 2 situated in Nanshan, Shenzhen. In May 2009, the CAS–CUHK Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Integration Technology, a joint venture with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shenzhen Municipal Government established in 2006, moved to its 52,000 m 2 new premises in Xili, Shenzhen. New initiatives in Shenzhen also included the establishment of the CUHK–BGI Genome Research Centre in March 2009—a collaboration with Beijing Genomics Institute, Shenzhen (BGI), one of the three major genomics research centres in the world. It is expected that, with the rapidly growing economic prowess of China and its substantial investment in education and research, our various academic, education, R&D, training and technology transfer activities in Shenzhen will stimulate and sustain the growth of the University and contribute to the development of Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta region. 二零零九年三月十九日，我們與深圳市政 府簽訂合作備忘錄，加強雙方在教育和科 研方面的合作；同日香港中文大學深圳研 究院大樓舉行動土典禮，大樓高十層，樓 面總面積二萬五千平方米，坐落深圳南山 區。二零零九年五月，由中大、中科院、深 圳市政府於二零零六年共同建立的中國 科學院香港中文大學深圳先進集成技術 研究所，遷入總面積五萬二千平方米的深 圳西麗新址。在深圳開展的新項目，尚有 二零零九年三月與深圳華大基因研究院 合設成立的中．華．基因組研究中心；深 圳華大基因研究院是全球三大基因研究 中心之一。中國經濟急速發展，教研投資 與日俱增，我們在深圳的學術、教育、研 發、培訓及技術轉移項目，既利於本身的 長遠發展，並能為珠三角地區的建設作貢 獻。 香港中文大學深圳研究院大樓模擬圖 Simulation of CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute Building
