71 教 學 輔 助 設 施 Academic Support Facilities Library Services Electronic Collections The Library continued to increase the proportion of electronic copies against print versions. During the year under review, there was a 56% increase in e-books, a 3% growth in printed books, a 1% increase in e-journals and a drop of 6% in printed serial subscriptions. To promote the use of electronic resources, E-Resources Week was organized. Over 1,000 students participated in the series of activities including an online quiz, games, exhibits and seminars. In 2008–09, the total count of usage of electronic resources was 77,237,959. Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery With the new interlibrary loan policy and agreements, there was an 18% increase in overall interlibrary loan requests, a 41% increase in overseas transactions and a 49% increase in campus document delivery. Students and staff can extend the access to research resources from CUHK to both local and overseas libraries. New Services The Library Catalogue 2.0 Beta Version was introduced for searching the holdings of all library resources with the latest web technologies. ‘360 Search’, a new platform for searching over a hundred electronic resources simultaneously was launched. An online request system for inter-branch book delivery was set up.
